This Collection celebrates the colour and fashion of the 1950’s. Here are some fun facts.  Powdery pastels became fashionable in the 1950’s with softer hues conveying youth, warmth and joy.  Women wore pastel flowing skirts or swing dresses,  bullet bras with tight bodices and cinched in waistlines. These dresses were worn with a petticoat or hoop skirt to accentuate a small waist and exaggerated hips.  Accessories where designed to match the pastel colour of the dress. These included a hat often with a veil , matching pastel purse, white gloves,  back seam nylons and pastel shoes with kitten heals.  Pastel knitted sweaters were tight fitting to emphasize a curvy silhouette with enhanced bustline. Summer wear included pedal pushers or clam diggers with matching tops in pastels. For fun they also included in their wardrobe wool felted pastel poodle skirts with white bobby socks and  saddle shoes. In men’s fashion there was an emphasis on classic and timeless with a sense of formality. This decade considered a well dressed man to be polished with a tailored suit, and a fedora. Attention to detail with cufflinks, tie pins and polished wingtip oxfords. There was an  increase in colour, instead of the traditional white starched shirt,  pastels became popular with ties or bowties in strips or geometric shapes.  For  casual wear they sported popular colourful knitted vests and penny loafers.
